Now, this was unusual, to say the least. Violet picked up the small dog, cradling him in her arms. He was cute! She looked around, trying to discern where he'd appeared from. She assumed it was through the fence, but where? Deciding it didn't matter where, she checked his neck carefully for a collar. There wasn't one. She stroked the soft brown fur absently as she tried to work out what she was going to do with him. She couldn't just leave him here...the guards would probably shoot him, or something. She sat on the ground, hoping nobody would suddenly appear, and looked into the puppy's dark brown eyes.
She made no sound, but she was still talking to him. " What am I gonna do with you, huh? " The dog barked quietly and stuck his tongue out, making her giggle. Well, there was only one thing to do. Vi glared sternly at him - or her? She didn't wanna check, gross - and sent him psychic messages that he'd hopefully pick up on. " Okay, you be quiet now? You hear me? If you make a noise, the scary adult people will come yell at us. " He remained silent, and she smiled, kissing the top of his head and unzipping her coat. He wasn't a big dog, but big enough to make her look as though she'd developed a large, ungainly chest overnight. Folding her arms over the lump, she supported him from underneath and bent, so she was almost doubled over. Sure, she looked as though she had the worst posture ever, but it hid the dog well.
And she needed to come up with a name for him. 'The dog' wasn't very nice. As she walked towards the school, she came up with several possibilities; all from books, films or TV shows that she liked. Luke, Arthur or Kovu. Vi decided on Kovu - it was a name that could mean either gender, and it was from the Lion King, an awesome film - and stroked Kovu through the coat. She hoped that he'd like his new name, and wondered how on earth he'd find his new name out. She couldn't tell him, and she doubted that he could sign or read. Giggling at the thought - training was going to be a bitch - she smiled as she saw a passing teacher, who pretended not to be staring at her deformed posture.
Amazingly, Violet made it the entire way to her dorm without anyone noticing that she had a small dog stuffed up her top. When she got to the room, she unzipped her coat, shushing Kovu as he barked quietly. Shutting the door, she tried to figure out what she was going to tell her roommate. Both of them (even though one wasn't actually her roommate) seemed nice enough. They probably wouldn't mind that she had a dog, but how would she hide it from the teacher people? And how would she feed him? Maybe she should ask the head teachers if she was allowed a dog. It was an ideal solution if only she knew that they'd agree to the proposition. Well, she could always ask, saying it was for 'a friend', like people did when they bought alcohol underage. At least, that's what they did in films.
Opening her window a crack, she took her blanket off the bed and put it inside one of her unused drawers. It looked cosy. Vi picked Kovu up and popped him inside, then lifted the drawer so it was behind her bed. You wouldn't be able to see him, unless you went into that corner of the room. Or, of course, if he ran around barking wildly. She hoped he wouldn't do that, and told him so, stroking his neck, before she stood up and left. Now, she needed to find one of the head teachers. There were two, she thought, or was it three? There was a boy and girl, and they were married. The man was really scary because he was so tall, and the woman looked a bit...crazy herself. There was another man, who was quite old, and looked nice enough. She decided that she'd go and find one of the men, because the crazy woman might shout at her. Her roommates didn't like her.
As she walked in the general direction of the therapy rooms (where else would they be?), she scribbled on a piece of paper, having to re-write it several times before she was satisfied with the final result. " Hello, my name is Violet, and I was wondering if we are allowed dogs here? " It was worded in a good way; people might just assume that she wanted a dog, rather than she already had one. When she reached the therapy rooms, she looked at the three name plates she could see. Josephine Hudson was probably the woman. Gabriel Hudson sounded like a girls name as well, but it wasn't; that was probably her husband. Peter Ivrie was definitely a man. Which one to go into? Violet took a deep breath, and knocked on the door of the nearest one, trying not to look obviously terrified.
