Dear Doctor Hudson,
I am writing to you concerning our decision to return Laura to your school. While we know we were advised against removing her in the first place, we felt that she may have improved enough to return to family life. We appreciate now that we were mistaken.
Laura’s continued insistence that she is ‘evil’ along with the disastrous attempt to return her to mainstream education and the resulting chaos leading to her expulsion for ‘disruptiveness’ as well as truancy have all contributed to this decision. Although we took pains to warn the school, they have a very strict three strikes policy, which they were unwilling to bend. Given Laura’s renewed desire to see her uncle, she once more began to run away from school despite constant supervision. She did make it to his hospital ward on one occasion when the front desk was momentarily unstaffed. Luckily she was stopped at the door and escorted home by a kindly staff member on his lunch break. It was this incident in particular that led to our decision to return her to your school.
Laura is clearly unready to re-enter mainstream society and in future we will be sure to read all correspondence with this view. We clearly overestimated the effect moving her to your establishment would have.
